Jeff Davidson, resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office, has a national practice involving bankruptcy reorganizations, out-of-court restructurings, distressed debt, and the analysis of complex corporate finance transactions. Jeff has served as lead counsel representing both public and private business entities in a variety of industries. Jeff commonly represents hedge funds, private equity funds, and other significant holders of securities in connection with complex chapter 11 reorganizations and liability management exercises, and has handled many insolvency-related sales and acquisitions. Jeff’s significant debtholder representations have included Caesars Entertainment, CIT Group, Claire’s, Community Health, Delphi, Delta Airlines, Denbury, Dynegy, Edison Mission Energy, Endo, Enron, Envision, FNMA, Frontier, iHeart, Hertz, Illuminations, JCPenney, Lehman Brothers, MF Global, Mallinckrodt, Momentive, Neiman Marcus, Noble Group, Nortel, Peabody, PetSmart, PG&E, Proteus, Puerto Rico, Refco, Relativity, Residential Capital, Rite Aid, Scotia Pacific, Seadrill, Sears, Talen, Telesat, TOUSA, Toys-r-Us, Travelport, TXU, Unilife, Ultra, Weatherford, Westinghouse, WeWork, Windstream, Xtant, and Zohar.

Jeff is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a former member of its board of directors, its board of regents, and its nominating committee; a former chair of its Ninth Circuit Council; and a former chair of its Ninth Circuit Educational Programs Committee. Jeff was named a “Lawyer of the Year” for “Litigation – Bankruptcy” in both the 30th and 21st editions of Best Lawyers in America, a “Lawyer of the Year” for “Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law” in the 20th edition, and has been honored by Best Lawyers in America every year since 2001. Jeff has also been recognized by Chambers USA in the practice area of Bankruptcy/Restructuring; named to Lawdragon's list of the 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers; and listed by Southern California "Super Lawyers" in the practice area of Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights every year since 2004. Jeff previously chaired the California State Bar Commercial Law Committee, served as treasurer and a member of the executive committee of the California State Bar Business Law Section, chaired the Los Angeles County Bar Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section s well as its Bankruptcy Committee, and served as president of the Financial Lawyers Conference and is a present member of its board of governors.

Jeff has published and lectured extensively on a variety of bankruptcy-related and commercial law topics. For several years Jeff has presented annual bankruptcy update programs for the Financial Lawyers Conference, for the Bankruptcy Section of the New Mexico State Bar, and previously for the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. Jeff has also presented various commercial law and bankruptcy law educational programs for ALI-ABA, ALI CLE, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, California Continuing Education of the Bar, Renaissance American Management, Beard Group, and Turnaround Management Association.

Jeff received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Harvard College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
