It’Sugar, the nation’s largest candy store retailer, filed for bankruptcy protection in September 2020 citing the effects of the pandemic on sales and consumer behavior as well as “the recessionary economic environment.” In June 2021, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida announced its intention to confirm the debtor’s reorganization plan. The firm’s efforts were instrumental in keeping this iconic candy retailer operating for trade vendors with a maximum footprint for its landlord constituency.
