June 24, 2024

June 24, 2024, Los Angeles, CA – Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP (“PSZJ”) lawyers Brittany Mitchell Michael and Benjamin Wallen have been named to the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ)’s 2024 Next Generation (NextGen) Program.

The NextGen Program annually recognizes participants who have been practicing bankruptcy law for a maximum of ten years and meet stringent qualification criteria, including a demonstrated commitment to the utmost civility, ethics, and professionalism as well as a focus on the educational development of bankruptcy professionals and the continued growth of the bankruptcy bar and the court system. NextGen attendees will participate in an exclusive Judicial Roundtable program and have the opportunity to network and socialize with their 2024 classmates and NextGen alumni.

Brittany has successfully represented creditors’ committees, debtors, and large commercial creditors in complex chapter 11 cases, including extensive experience in representing committees in mass-tort bankruptcy cases.

“Brittany is a great lawyer and has been integral in PSZJ’s representations of committees in Diocesan and church-related bankruptcies. I cannot think of two young attorneys, Brittany and Ben, who are more deserving of this honor,” said PSZJ name partner James Stang.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to participate in NCBJ’s prestigious NextGen program this year alongside so many of my esteemed peers and colleagues,” Brittany said.

Ben has gained widespread prominence for his expertise in representing creditors' committees, debtors, and various other parties in national restructurings in cases across the nation.

“Over the course of his career, Ben has played a pivotal role in developing PSZJ’s Houston office into one of the most venerable bankruptcy practices in the state, and thus adding to PSZJ’s prominence as the nation’s leading corporate restructuring law firm,” said Michael Warner, Managing Partner of PSZJ’s Houston office.

Ben echoed Brittany’s sentiment, adding that he is “looking forward to networking with a group of highly influential and successful bankruptcy attorneys while furthering my own skills in the field.”

The 2024 NextGen program will take place during NCBJ’s Annual Meeting, which will be held September 18-20, 2024 in Seattle, Washington.
